The YASYT Robotics Guidyt project is based on conducting guided tours in different areas using the Pepper, a social robot that is designed to interact with people through multimodal communication.

As explained in Marco Espona, CTO of YASYT Robotics, Guidyt emerged on a trip that YASYT Robotics made to Paris, where Softbank Robotics Europe carried out a training on robotic navigation where different tools were worked to optimize the autonomy of the Pepper in closed spaces. From this course, from YASYT Robotics we detected the great potential that Pepper could have by taking guided tours, for example, by taking guided tours in museums. In this project, the robot has the ability to explain details about works and paintings to clients through a different and technological interaction.
The development of the Guidyt project has been carried out at MEAM, the European Museum of Modern Art located in Barcelona. In Pepper for two months he has been conducting guided tours inside the center with the aim of providing information about the different works that exist, as well as adding details about the author, the year of creation, or anecdotes that are related to that work. . This visit lasts six works in three consecutive rooms, where Pepper offers the option of taking a complete guided tour, or selecting a specific work.
Regarding the interaction with users, the Pepper has the ability to detect a human presence around it. When it detects you, it invites you to interact by offering the option of taking a guided tour of the museum, or detailed information about a specific work. In the case of choosing a guided tour, he asks you to accompany him to the first painting, where he makes a precise explanation about the details of that work, and so on.
The objective that we set ourselves from YASYT Robotics was to work so that Pepper met the established milestones to improve its autonomy, in terms of autonomous movement. We also want to continue working to create an application, validated by Softbank Robotics, that allows the Guidyt project to be expanded in other organizations and institutions, which are not only part of the cultural field, such as museums, but also of various sectors such as hotels, meetings , congresses, etc.
With Guidyt, YASYT Robotics presents to the market an innovative and reforming social robotics project, where Pepper, with his charisma, aims to guide museum clients to make a much more interactive visit. It is not intended to replace the tourist guide, but to accompany and reinforce them in the course of their work tasks.
